Match Pack: Liverpool

Form guide
Resurgent Liverpool have turned their season around since the re-appointment of former boss Kenny Dalglish following the sacking of Roy Hodgson in January. The Anfield legend has guided the club up to sixth in the Premier League, just nine points from a Champions League position - although a 3-1 defeat to West Ham last weekend brought an end to a run of eight matches unbeaten. United travel to Merseyside on the back of Tuesday's disappointing 2-1 defeat to champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a result which could allow Arsenal to reduce the Reds' four-point lead at the top should the Gunners win their game in hand. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will have been encouraged, however, by the 4-0 victory over Wigan last weekend, the Reds' biggest away win this season.

Ins and outs
Noises coming out of Liverpool suggest club-record signing Andy Carroll will make his debut against United; the former Newcastle striker has been injured since singing for £35million in January. Daniel Agger and Fabio Aurelio could both return after missing the defeat to West Ham. Raul Meireles (knee) is a doubt while Martin Kelly (hamstring) is definitely out. Sir Alex has something of a defensive crisis on his hands, with three first-team centre-backs ruled out. The boss has confirmed Wes Brown will partner Chris Smalling at the back in the absence of Nemanja Vidic (suspended), Rio Ferdinand (calf) and Jonny Evans (ankle). There are also concerns over Patrice Evra’s fitness after the left-back limped off at Stamford Bridge. Anderson and Ji-sung Park are still missing.
